Scoliosis in Adults

Scoliosis in Adults

Scoliosis in adults is indeed treatable. Although you may have been told there’s little you can do to change the course of your progression.
The truth is, you can prevent your curve from getting worse and ease your pain without surgery.

You may worry that your condition will progress and worsen over time. You may have a progression of your curve, and the progression will vary from 0.5 to 3.0 degrees per year.

However, even then…

Your condition is treatable and many of our patients have experienced relief from the pain, disability, and poor self-image that often come with scoliosis.

Scoliosis in adults has two main concerns that don’t apply to a majority of child or adolescent sufferers:

Pain

… is a common symptom of scoliosis in adults. Some of our patients were told they had scoliosis as children and teens and were advised to “watch and wait.” Then as they age, they begin to experience back pain, hip pain, or other symptoms only to discover that scoliosis is the underlying issue.

Disability

… another cause of untreated scoliosis. As the condition becomes degenerative, you lose the ability to run, walk, or just move about as you used to. As you become older, the likelihood of disability increases. Without treatment, you may completely lose the freedom to do the things that you enjoy.

Progression

… when you do not receive treatment for scoliosis and simply “watch and wait,” you are vulnerable to the likely outcome that your curve will get much worse over time.

Aesthetics

… while the pain, disability, and the progression of your curves can be the most pressing thing, the way that you look while you are living your daily life is also a real concern. You worry about the possibility of your condition deteriorating over time and resulting in pain. You also feel self-conscious because of the way your scoliosis makes you look in the eyes of people you see at work, and everywhere you go.

We can customize the treatment for your scoliosis and help you get back to living your best life!
